I kept switching back and forth too. I think the "right" pronunciation for
each person is individual and based on their own unique circumstances and
goals.
I'm sticking with Erasmian, as it's important to me to have acess to as many
audio resources as are available, I put alot of emphasis on composing and
it's easier to spell with Erasmian, and also as computer technology increases,
more and more oppurtunities for study chats with microphones are popping up,
and Erasmian is MUCH more common with Attic groups as well as being the
predominant pronunciation for Koine.
Pronouns made the final decision for me. Too many pronouns sound the same in
modern pronunciation. Some day I hope to teach Greek to children, and want to
include a bit of conversational Greek. Having the different pronouns sound
the same would be chaos :-0
Modern pronunciation is used in the Greek orthodox church. That was SO
tempting to me, but...not worth not being able to engage in an Attic study group
chat with microphones. I was trying to help another self study person and
realized I couldn't unless I typed and we were having trouble with the fonts and
it was SO much easier to just speek Greek that day.

I am a newbie to the list and wondering what the prevailing opinion
concerning pronunciation is . . . Erasmian or Modern? Or does it really
matter? I keep on bouncing back and forth myself and that can't be a good
practice.
