A quick look at the use of PROSKUNEW in the N. T. reveals at least five different 'variations': (1) Intransitive; (2) Followed by the dative of the object; (3) Followed by the accusative of the object; (4) Followed by ENWPION + the genitive; and (5) Followed by EMPROSQEN + the genitive. Are these different usages more-or-less synonymous, or might there be different shades of meaning - for example, might PROSKUNEW followed by the dative be more likely to imply the physical act of prostrating oneself before the object of worship?
