Hello everyone,
I plan to take NT greek this fall and I have a question. In the LXX, how
many times does ORTHROS refer to early in the morning? The reason I am
asking is this: In the NT orthros is used only 3 times and it always refers
to early in the morning. But how early? Before sunrise, as in Luke 24:1? Is
there any site I can go to where ORTHROS is shown in the LXX so I can have a
broader knowledge of the way it was used? I was told by my brother he heard
that ORTHROS was used over 60 times in the LXX and it always referred to
very early in the morning. I wanted to examine the passages in context and I
have ordered Brenton's LXX so I needed to know where to look for the
occurrences of ORTHROS in the LXX. This will help a lot and I thak you all
for your patience. I have already learned the greek alphabet and I haven't
even taken my first course in Greek. I hope to receive a book in the mail
soon that will help me get a headstart on NT Greek.
Thanks Again,
David Mooney
