Hi b-greek,

Gordon Goltz,
> When you check the NA27, you will notice in the variant readings that in the B manuscipt IHSOUN is omitted. It would have been very natural for "scribes" (and not the "church") to tack on the XRISTOS.

Although this is outside my original question, and I had purposely simply omitted
discussion of the Vaticanus variant ---

We can compare the two likelihoods, perhaps taking out Occam's Razor.

1) One scribe in gnostic backwater Egypt, circa 350 AD, dropping IHSOUN, either a scribal slip
and variance (of which the manuscript has many) or a deliberate small attempt at lessening
    Messiah.

2) A scribe, say around 200 AD adding IHSOUN, and this working its way into each
and every Old Latin, Greek, Ethiopic and Aramaic manuscript, as well as the Early
Church writer references, and lectionaries, bar only one, in Egypt.

Imho, the fact that (2) is taken seriously in such cases represents the devolution of critical
thinking in modern textcrit. and the paradigmic and conceptual blockages that have fogged
  men's minds.

Shalom,
Steven Avery
