Charles:

What got my attention in earlier discussions of this
was your contention that GINOMAI could be translated
as an Active (incorrectly seconded by Dr. West). I
think you misunderstood the statement made about
personal and impersonal subjects. With impersonal
subjects, there cannot be an Active Voice sense quite
naturally. When the subject is participating in the
action, the semantics of the voice will be Middle,
never Active (with any Deponent verb).
