And I'm not sure either why Charles was surprised to find the Middle and
Active closely allied, with the Passive at the other end of the spectrum.
Eddie, Eddie, Eddie! I was not surprised. I simply quoted the grammars to
show how the middle was used in response to Dr. Conrads' considerations of
parallel passages in Ephesians and Colossians. I have avoided the question
of the middle voice because my question was and remains: Can the passive
voices of GINOMAI be translated as passives every time? Dr. Conrad made some
very valid observations on the Ephesians and Colossians passages and I
respond with a viable explanation of why the passive and middle voices could
be used with reference to the same event.
