Yes, and the papyri of the first century BC bear upon the meaning of words,
ergo, are incorporated into lexical studies. Works such as Lust/Eynikel/Hauspie
are based upon just such studies, and in turn are available for scholarly
use. I suspect the OT Dictionary put out by AMG Publishers under the editorship
of Warren Baker relied on just such a work -- since I recall ordering it for
use in the Special Projects Department.
I am not sure what you are arguing against since it was you who questioned
whether the works in question made any use of papyri. You obviously knew from
the poster that these were dictionaries since their titles were given.
Now, I can assure you both M&M and Deissmann were used, as I said, in the
portion of the lexical aids I revised. And to what extent those volumes were
used, their research is reflected.
As to how much a Hebrew dictionary uses papyri studies I cannot say
precisely. But with the increasing relevance and interest in the study of the LXX, I
would dare say while it may be relatively small it is nevertheless certainly
noteworthy. The bibliography of LEH tells one as much.
But then, we may be talking past one another.
