Does John's use of the term monogenes (1:14, 18; 3:16, etc.) in any
way buttress the argument of those who say Jesus was actually birthed or
created by God? Translations like the NIV and NLT skirt the issue by
translating it "one and only" or "unique." A corresponding OT passage
(Psalm 2:7) is translated in both of these versions so as to avoid the
implication of being "begotten" or "birthed." So I guess my question is,
Does monogenes means "unique" or "only-born"?
