Thanks for your replies.
If I understand them correctly, the verse displays a comparison in which the
situation of "us" is compared to the situation of EKEINOI. Maybe because of
the beginning of the chapter, I would have expected a comparison the other way
around. Something more like "since we believe we are saved, so are they".
The aorist in the second part of the comparison is due to his place in the
comparison or to the use of the aorist infinitive in the first part (SWQHNAI)?
