Even in simple things the variations in terminology can be confusing for the novice.

E.g., different grammars/grammarians use different terms for the three aspects (sort of related
to the present/aorist/perfect tenses):

a) continuous/undefined/perfect (William Mounce)

b) linear/punctilear/combined (Edward Goodrick)

c) imperfective/perfective/stative (Stanley Porter)

Mounce uses "perfect" for the aspect of the "perfect" tense(s), and Porter used "perfective" for
the aspect of the aorist tense.
