In the dictionary of Bauer (German edition) s.v. STAUROW there are some
examples of STAUROW with the meaning to crucify in pagan literature:
Polyb. I 86. 4, Diod. Sic. XVI 61. 2, Epictet. II 2. 20 etc.
He mentions also Esther 7: 9 and 8: 12 and Josephus, Ant. Iud. II 77 and
XVII 295.

For the moment I do not have the time to work this out.

Arie
