Can anyone here tell me if the use of PROGONOS -- and especially of
PROGONOI -- differs in meaning in Byzantine Greek from what it is used
to mean in Koine?

And would anyone like to take a shot at translating this entry on the
Essenes from the Suda?

ESSAIOI:  Ioudaioi, askhtai,  Farisaiwn kai grammatewn thn askhsin ec
epimetrou dianesthkotes, progonoi  Iwnada/b, uiou  Rixab tou dikaiou.

What is the sense that PROGONOI has here?

Yours,

Jeffrey
