Similarly, I've been finding it helpful to follow along in the Greek during
sermons, etc. Hearing the English translation gives me enough context clues
to clarify what I'm seeing in the Greek -- the training wheel metaphor is
very apt. It also enforces, obviously, a certain speed to the reading which
I think is a good exercise.
Interestingly, when I tried the same thing with some New Testament
recordings in Spanish, which I understand more-or-less completely but not
*natively*, it doesn't work nearly as well. I guess the effort needed for
me to understand the spoken Spanish competes with that needed to understand
the written Greek.
