I was taught using this text and I have diagramed in sermon preparation for 25 
years. Bob Fuller was right: "[It] keeps me honest with the text.  It reminds 
me that words mean things, but so does their relation to other words." There 
was a time when it fell out of favor as being too mechanical and thus missing 
word plays and the structure of the text. As mentioned, a combination is 
best, but I begin with diagraming for my basic analysis.
