Dear 'B-Greekers',
Regarding TI EMOI KAI SOI, GUNAI (John 2:4):
(1) The closest (only?) New Testament parallel seems to be Mark 5:7 (= Luke 8:28), which may throw some light on the phrase in question;
(2) The words immediately following the phrase in question, OUPW hHKEI hH hWRA MOU, would seem to suggest something less than immediate willing compliance on Jesus' part;
(3) While agreeing completely with what has been said about GUNAI being consistent with both respect and affection, was it a normal way for a son to address his mother?
Sincerely,
Andrew J. Birch
