Greetings,
James 5:16 might read, in part,
EXOMOLOGEISQE OUN ALLHLOIS TAS hAMARTIAS . . . .
or that section might read
EXOMOLOGEISQE ALLHLOIS TA PARAPTWMATA . . . .
I don't want to digress into textual criticism at this
point. My question is about hAMARTIA, PARAPTWMA, and
words with similar meanings. Let's expand the range
of discussion to include other synonyms which I
wouldn't know to write here.
Which words definitely mean "moral fault"?
(i.e. sin, crime, etc.)
Which words definitely mean "nonmoral failure"?
(e.g. lack of talent, slip-up, etc.)
And which words can be interpreted wither way?
Thank you very much!
