Dear list,
For want of a better expression, I labelled this thread curiosa, though
I am not looking for the really absurd here. What I am looking for are
passages that happen to illustrate a specific grammatical phenomenon
quite dramatically. Here are two examples, I hope the collective wisdom
of the list can come up with many others.
My favourite verse to illustrate the three grammatical genders is
Ephesians 4:5
EIS SWMA, MIA PISTIS, EN BAPTISMA, nicely summing up all three forms of
EIS in one verse.
Another one is 1 Chron 11:2:
KAI EIPEN KURIOS O QEOS SOU SOI SU POIMANEIS TON LAON MOU TON ISRAHL,
with three cases of SU in a row.
I am sure there are many others in the NT and LXX .Feel free to share them.
Cheers,
Dirk Jongkind
