John 16:6
ALL hOTI TAUTA LELALHKA hUMIN hH LUPH PEPLHRWKEN hUMWN THN KARDIAN
To what does hUMWN THN KARDIAN refer exactly? Are we supposed to
understand some sort of collective heart? Or is it possible/better to
interpret it as "each of your hearts"?
English translations tend to obscure this issue either by using formal
equivalence "your heart" which reads like it is addressed to a single
person, or by paraphrase e.g. "you are filed with grief" NIV.
thanks,
Bob
