A long while ago I announced the following book:

Textkritik des Markusevangeliums
Greeven, Heinrich / Gueting, Eberhard
publisher: LIT Verlag
http://www.lit-verlag.de/isbn/3-8258-6878-8
ISBN : 3-8258-6878-8
768 pages, 99,90 Eur

The book is out now.
It is the posthumous publication of Heinrich Greeven's notes, which he intended to publish as a justification of his textual decisions in his synopsis. This work has been complemented by the decisions given in commentaries and other secondary literature. This has been compiled by Eberhard Gueting over several years.
The result is a massive tome full of interesting information, unfortunately in German. If I have counted correctly, 423 variants have been discussed. (My commentary currently lists 340 variants for Mk.)
The presentation gives first the evidence of the MSS, then the discussion by Greeven (internal and external arguments) and finally the decisions of other exegetes (done by Gueting).
I will wade through the book and will try to add all noteworthy information into my commentary. This will probably take (at least) the rest of the year. :-)

I cannot judge anything yet, but what is really incredible and inexplicable is that not one word is noted about the endings of Mark! Not one word! Not even a note why there is no discussion. (At least I have found none.) There even is an index of "Not discussed variants". No note about the endings. The last variant is 16:4.

Nevertheless a "must-have".

The book is currently not listed at Amazon.com, but you can try the publisher directly or its branches in London or New York.

Best wishes
    Wieland
