><Ryan> Should I read Mounce's book, Black's /Learn to
Read New Testament Greek/, or both . . . or move on to
/It's Still Greek to Me/ and then to intermediate
books. What could I reasonably expect to gain from an
additional beginning book?
<doug>
i'd recommend doing another beginner grammar. both
mounce and black are great (in fact, i'd read them
both). i would also recommend getting parson's greek
tutor or something equivalent and going through that.
that is a great tool to hone your skills and testing
your knowledge before you start trying to investigate
intermediate textbooks. but as others will say here,
nothing can substitute for a regular reading of the
greek new testament and actually working with the
text. you can read all of the grammars that you want,
but unless you start working with the actual greek
text, it is only theory and disconnected factoids.
FWIW.
