Dear Mrs. Kline,
Rudolf Bultmann wrote an essay entitled ,,Ist voraussetzungslose Exegese moeglich?" (Is exegesis without presuppositions possible?). The answer is no. Dooyeweerd understood quite well that presuppostions taint everything that one does.
In B-Greek we come to the table with a common source - the Greek NT. This is our common denominator or as Paul says ...hOUTWS KAI hHMEIS, hOTE HMEN NHPIOI, hUPO TA STOICEIA TOU KOSMOU HMEQA DEDOULWMENOI...(Gal 4:3). Grammar, syntax, style, vocabulary, etc are all elements of STOICEIA. The rules which apply are common to all - irrespective of world-view.
Another common denominator - also found in the NT - is ...SUMMARTUROUSHS AUTWN THS SUNEIDHSEWS KAI METAXU ALLHLWN TWN LOGISMWN KATHYOROUNTWN H APOLOYOUMENWN...(Rom 2:15). The topics discussed on this list are of course mild referentially to what Paul meant - yet these too apply.
I am a Christian (and make no apologies for it) and am well versed in the likes of C. Van Til, Dutch and French Calvinism, philosophers like Dooyeweerd and others; but I am also aware of the profane. We still have to meet on the same level. I think - like Dooyeweerd - the STOICEIA will speak for themselves and support our world-view. Nevertheless, the Greek NT has its own presuppositions and world view which is to be interpreted (exegesis) not twisted through alien to the text philosophical views (eisegesis).
I would not worry about others imposing their ideological framework. They simply have to interprete the text and get to the author's meaning - not their own.
Cordially in Christ,
Malcolm Robertson

So all the disciples of Herman Dooyeweerd can just unsubscribe since they do
not deserve a place at the table.
This is why Dr. Conrad issued his caution. Some members of this forum intend
to impose their ideological frame of reference on all the rest.

P.S. I am not a disciple of Dooyeweerd.
