If you look at the entire structure of the sentence
KAI GAR EAN AHLON SALPIGC FWNHN DWi
KAI obviously joins to what preceeds and GAR, as a postpostitive, must
follow. The condition is then introduced by EAN. This makes AHLON the
first significant position in the sentence. It would therefore seem that
the emphasis is thrown upon the nature (AHLON) of the FWNH which is
given.
