In the New Testament ALEIFW is used only of external, physical
anointing.
In the New Testament CRIW usually has a figurative or extended
meaning beyond the physical act. The figurative use is related to the
use of meshachta משׁח which is often rendered CRIW in the LXX for
example:
1SAM. 9:16 hWS hO KAIROS AURION APOSTELW PROS SE ANDRA EK GHS
BENIAMIN KAI CRISEIS AUTON EIS ARCONTA EPI TON LAON MOU ISRAHL .
1Sam. 9:16 “Tomorrow about this time I will send to you a man from
the land of Benjamin, and you shall anoint him to be prince over my
people Israel.
I don't thing this figurative use of CRIW is found in pagan greek.
