We had our get-together last night, though 2 of the persons who expressed an
interest didn't connect with us. With a couple of my friends we ended up with a total of
8 at the table for great food and fine fellowship.
Today Logos discussed some upcoming syntactical Hebrew and Greek tools - i.e.,
you'll be able to do more in-depth syntactical searches and diagramming. (Contact
Logos for details - my memory isn't good on remembering details.)
The plenary session speaker last night gave a presentation on GThomas being
originally in Syriac, which puts it at the end of the 2nd century, and therefore not
coming close to qualifying as a "fifth Gospel." His argument was based on showing
word affinities in the Syriac that statistically overwhelm such affinities in either Greek
or Coptic versions of Thomas. I.e., the Coptic and Greek versions must have come
from the Syriac.
And ... I got to hear/meet Ward Powers, and saw Randall Buth and John Schwandt
again. Lots of fun! So, maybe next year we'll have more B-Greekers for a dinner!
