Hi all. Regarding below, I just did a search in archives, and found previous
posts about question 2 below. So if there is nothing further to add, maybe
focus on Q1.
FYI Previous posts were under subject of "Hebrews 10:29" and here is my
summary of the interaction:
[Doug Hoxworth:]
however, TON hUION does not seem to be
the subject of the sentence and the hWi is
semantically subordinate to/nested within a different participial phrase.
for these reasons, i personally think it is unlikely that TON hUION is the
antecedent to hWi. while as carl said that it is not impossible, i cannot
see a reason that would support/necessitate this reading (other than
imposing certain theologies on the text) [Also has a good diagramming of the
verse!]
[Carl W. Conrad:]
All of which is to say: it's a matter of reading the text in context
rather than of parsing the Greek; the subject of hHGIASQH is NOT
spelled out here but implicit. Guessing at the subject of hHGIASQH is
not a matter of understanding the Greek as Greek.
