I used Mounce for several years although I never liked its setup or
pedagogy. I found numerous inconsistencies in the CD with alpha, iota, and
epsilon. I always assumed it was hard-to-overcome learned habits, warned
my students, and moved on.
Does anyone have a convenient chart picturing the long/short value of iota
in its vowel/consonant context? Since the accent system does not always
help (and sometimes we even violate what it indicates...reverting to some
English patterns) observe its value, I'm looking for a teachable paradigm.
I've not found satisfaction with this particular vowel.
Randall...where can I retrieve your preferred phonetic values for the
biblical Greek alphabet?
I have not monitored BGreek for a long time (long before Carl found the
promise land), so all this may have been addressed.
