Dear Octavio,
The simplest solution (Occam would approve) is to recognise that 'eLoHiYM
in Hebrew can mean "judges" rather than God or gods. The Judges sat to
dispense divine judgment on behalf of God, rather as the UK judhes of
the Queen's Bench sit in the seat of the Queen.
In Exodus 21:6, 22:7 and 8 the Judges are called 'eLoHiYM. So in Psalm 82
[81], God is reminding the *unjust judges* who are not dispensing divine
justice that the Day will come when they will be standing before Him
in judgment. Think of Psalm 82 [81] as a prophecy against those unjust
judges who sit in the place of God, yet abuse their position and wrest his
justice. God appointed them to act on His behalf (verse 6); now they
shall die like those whom they condemned (verse 7).
