my question has to do with the four participles in
verses 10-12 of col. 1-- KARPOFOROUNTES, AUXANOMENOI,
DUNAMOUMENOI, and EUCARISTOUNTES. i am a little
confused about which verb they are modifying (i am
assuming here that they all modify the same verb). i
originally thought they were pointing to the
infinitive PERIPATHSAI (describing HOW we can walk
worthily), and that seemed fine to me until i noticed
in wallace that some classifications of adverbial
participles only modify finite verbs. i thought
originally that they were either manner or means
participles modifying PERIPATHSAI, but both of those
classifications require a finite verb. am i
misunderstanding something in wallace? my first
impression still seems to be the most logical. any
help here would be appreciated. thanks,
