Does anyone mark or map their textbooks or reading texts? Or use an adaption
of SQ3R that works with a foreign language textbook?
This method of the SQ3R includes making flash cards, and gave me a couple
ideas.

Here is info about textmapping

I had to adapt it a bit but this is what I did. I figured out what the
chapter objectives were and then seperately boxed the information for each
objective in a green highlighter. I boxed the vocab table and any other vocab
information, later on in the chapter, in pink. I circled all paradigms, or
instructions about paradigms in the back of the book, in blue. I highlighted any
accent info in orange. I highlighted misc important sentences in yellow.
Then I found this info on textmarking a message board.
SUBJECT - underline once
DO- squiggly underline
VERB - double underline
ADJ (and GENITIVE of possession) - arrow to noun head
PREPOSITIONAL PHRASE - in parentheses (...)
ABLATIVES (i.e. those without prepositions) - inside and oval
DATIVES - esp. if INDIRECT OBJECTS - a line that is an arrow - doesn't
matter which way it is pointed
SUBORDINATE CLAUSE (including RELATIVE CLAUSES) - in square brackets [..]
ABLATIVE ABSOLUTE and other PARTICIPIAL PHRASES - in (what my students call
'munchies' or 'alligator mouths'...) i.e. <...>
I'm interested in any study and notetaking skills than anyone uses.
