I remember 25 years ago coming across a pamphlet by A.
E. Knoch on the Aorist titled "The English and Greek
indefinite." He wrote this around 1919. He said that
the aorist should be understood as a simple present as
in "I sit" but that the present active indicative
should be "I am sitting".
I showed this to my Greek instructor, boy was that a
mistake, he didn't take to kindly to that idea, "and
who is this AEK?! And what are his credentials, etc!"

I think A. E. Knoch and his Concordant Version have
some vindication in this.
