Shepherd of Hermas 36:6 reads : SU OUN EPIGNOUS TA ERGA AUTOU APOSTA AP'
AUTOU KAI MHDEN AUTWi PISTEUE, hOTI TA ERGA AUTOU PONHRA EISI KAI ASUMFORA
TOIS DOULOIS TOU QEOU.
You therefore, recognizing his works, stay away from him and blieve him (in)
nothing, because his works are evil and harmful to the servants of God.
My problem is with MHDEN in the accusative. I translated it using a
prepositional phrase, which, if I were to translate it back into Greek would
be EN MHDENI. If I translate it using the accusative then the dative AUTWi
does not seem to fit -> believe nothing of what he says (or something like
that.)
I hope I made my question clear.
Thank you.
Bert de Haan.
