Hi Carl,
  Thank you very much for your reply.  So you are saying that the 
form/structure THN IDIAN GUNAIKA is clause meaning and/or indicating 
possession -  well I really wasn't expecting that! :o)  (I suppose this is 
some sort of idiom?)
This certainly helps to clear up the meaning of this passage, so thanks 
again!
