I think that what the NIV has is perfectly acceptable for a dynamic
translation; however, the NIV does not have simply "together with." It has
"only together with us," and this is stronger than what you stated. The
stronger version of the positive statement is much more closely associated
semantically with MH CWRIS hHMWN, which is an emphatic way of saying, "They
couldn't do it without us." Notice, again, that the MH negation is not a
negation of the prepositional phrase (CWRIS hHMWN), but a negation of the
verb, TELEIWQWSIN. To put it closer to English syntax: hINA MH TELEIWQWSIN
CWRIS hHMWN.
