I find it difficult to believe this is a serious question. It's certainly
not expected that everyone who takes up Biblical Greek should become an
expert, but I hardly know what "just enough to get by" means. Either one
understands the basics of syntax and morphology well enough to read with
the assistance of a good lexicon -- or one approaches the text with a vague
notion and guesses at it without being quite sure about it. Even the
intelligent use of an interlinear text requires a reasonably solid grounding
in morphology and syntax. In my opinion, FWIW, one needs to be serious about
the study of Biblical Greek or not begin it at all. What is it supposed to mean,
"to know enough to get by"? Be able to use a lexicon? Be able to use a parsed
GNT and know what the designations of the parsing system mean?
