To all who are still interested in this subject:

Long time ago, in the early stages of my reading the GNT I realized that an
interlinear was a waste of time since I had one of the most literal
translations around, the old ASV. This translation follows the Greek word order as
closely as possible and it was "accurate" as literal translations go. So at
least I had to make an effort first to read the Greek and then look at the ASV
to see how I did. The effort to figure out the reasons for the ASV
translations is very rewarding since it forces you to hit the grammars for answers.
As your reading of Greek improves then you can compare your translations with
a freer translation such as the NIV which offers a greater challenge to
figure out the grammatical reasons for its translations. This makes for a
wonderful learning experience and serves as an inductive study of Greek grammar.
If we're stumped we can always get help from our b-Greek professors such as
Carl!
