One that comes to my mind immediately, Gene, is the Persian "pardes"
(Paradise) used by Jesus (PARADEISOS) to the repentant thief at Luke 23:43
and also 1Cr 12:4 and Rev 2:7. In the OT, the loan word for a garden or
forest is used at Cant. 4:13, Neh 2:8 and Ecc 2:5.
