In the *Septuagint Version* of the Old Testament with an English
Translation by Sir Lancelot Brenton, Isaiah 9:6 reads -
^ For a child is born to us, and a son is given to us, whose government
is upon his shoulder: and his name is called the Messenger of great counsel:
/ and there is a footnote
Alex/. + Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty One, Potentate, Prince of Peace,
Father of the age to come.
Can anyone explain why this has become "Everlasting Father" PATHR
MELLONTOS AIWNOS ?
It seems the Hebrew says "abiod" which is translated in a similar way -
with or without the future emphasis.
Thanks for all the work that goes into the site - Joe Ripley
