First off; My apologies for failing to check the archives before asking
this question. I simply did not think of it.
Second; Thanks for going through the trouble of pointing out the various
threads dealing with this topic.
(I could not find the archives for Feb. 2002 but there was enough in the
other discussions to help me along.)
So...Instead of this being "(as) he (was) getting on the boat, his disciples
followed him." it is "His disciples followed him getting on the boat".
One good thing about this verse is that either way I end up with similar
meanings (except that the second AUTWi seems awkward when I view the
participle and pronoun as direct object of the main verb.)
I guess that in the first instance it is possible that they followed him
using another boat, but in the second instance they followed him into the
boat he was going in.
I seems to me that a fellow has to know Hebrew in order to pick up on some
of the oddities of NT Greek.
Thanks again.
Bert de Haan.
