Dr. Conrad,
Thank you for not taking offense at my lame attempt at humor.

I am sure that is true. What it amounts to is something like 450
lines of Homer in a five hour day. One would need to read 90 lines an
hour. Years ago I read a statement by T.E. Lawrence (one of his
letters?) that he averaged about five lines an hour while he was
translating the Odyssey using the same lexicon LS intermediate which
is by no means what anyone would use today with Homeric lexicons
available. Anyway, ninety lines an hour requires a level of fluency
in Homer comparable to what some of us have in the GNT. It is not
unreasonable. But to reach that level of fluency in one month from a
standing start means that someone is what we call "gifted."
Thank you for your valuable insights,
Elizabeth Kline
