I only hope that you enjoyed it thoroughly and I suspect that you did.

Another of my memories of that first year of graduate school is the
realization that undergraduate work was essentially a time for
academic "play" -- for reading and exploring anything and everything
you think might be interesting, while serious graduate study involves
intense concentration on one relatively narrow area, not to absorb
all that's to be known in that narrow area, but to acquire the
requisite tools for exploration. In undergraduate work I might
readily spend five hours over coffee or beer in talk with other
students; graduate work sets different priorities.

I LOVE IT! Reminds me of when my son used to take his fire engine or
his new sneakers or his baseball mitt to bed with him!
