Mitch:

I don't believe this is the Granville-Sharp rule. I believe that the
Granville rule requires

1. [definite article]
2. followed by a noun [singular and referring to persons]
3. followed by a copulative kai
4. followed by a [singular noun and with the same case as the first
noun].

Titus 2:13 would be the Granville Sharp rule
tou [megalou] theou kai soteros

Hebrews 3:1 would also be
ton apostolon kai arechierea

Ephesians 4:11 would not because the nouns are plural
Tous poimenas kai didaskalous

Ephesians 2:20 would not be because the nouns are plural
Ton apostolon kai propheton

Luke 14:23 would not be the Granville-Sharp rule because the nouns are
plural and they don't refer to persons
Tas odous kai phragmous

It has been my observation that in every occurrence I have observed the
construction in the singular referring to persons it always refers to
the same person. I have been told that this is not always the case but
no one has ever been pointed to an exception. Clearly in the plural
they are not necessarily referring to the same persons such as "apostles
and prophets" in Ephesians 2:20. It seems to me that there is no
compelling reason to treat say that "poimenas" and "didaskalous" are the
same person {"pastor/teacher"] in Ephesians 4:11

Since I am new to [B-Greek] my potential for response and correction is
greatly expanded, I would like to get some input on this---

My understanding is that when there is an article followed by a noun
followed by a kai followed by a second noun. If the nouns are in the
same case, if they they are singular and if they are referring to
persons, they refer to the same person.

Two questions I have.

1. Is hH CARIS TOU QEOU KAI hH DWREA.. a Granville
Sharp construction?

2. What does THi go with or modify?
