I am a self study student and a former homeschool mom, I always apreciate
when the Erasmian pronunciation is CONSISTENT! Give me a rule, any rule, but
please just stick to it!

What is "correct" seems to change with the times. I'd think a CONSISTENT
approach would require less updating, than a curriculum that tries to focus on
being "correct".

I tend to use a lot of curriculums and they often do not agree. I use
Strong's dictionary as my final decision, because it's CONSISTENT. I just change a
couple of the dipthongs to a more commonly used pronunciation but am completely
consistent in doing that.

For me to learn a language I must DRILL information. To drill, you MUST have
a DEFINATE pronunciation fixed into your mind. I needed SOMETHING, ANYTHING to
grab onto with all the constant changing of opinions on what is "correct" and
found great comfort in just settling for what Mr. Strong decided upon. I
would have kept his dipthongs too, but with the new trend in audio support, that
is pretty consistent in pronouncing the dipthongs differently, it worked out
best to just change that small detail.

I personally don't care what is "correct" :-0 I just want to be able to drill
and study along with other students and teachers as effectively as possible,
and a slightly adapted version of Strong's pronunciations has allowed me to do
that :-)
