ACTS 14:1 EGENETO DE EN IKONIWi KATA TO AUTO EISELQEIN AUTOUS EIS THN
SUNAGWGHN TWN IOUDAIWN KAI LALHSAI hOUTWS hWSTE PISTEUSAI IOUDAIWN TE
KAI hELLHNWN POLU PLHQOS.

Fitzmyer (Acts AB) who is nearly infallible, reads KATA TO AUTO as
"together", i.e. Paul and Barnabas.
Barrett (Acts ICC) uses the logic of semantic "relevance" to
demonstrate that this is an improbable reading.
The constituent KATA TO AUTO ("in the same manner") has a discourse
function, it links narrative Acts 14:1ff with the preceding narrative
by suggesting that the reader/auditor will find a pattern repeated.
This linkage enhances the cohesion of larger discourse.
