Hi,
I read that the noted Hebrew scholar J.B. Lightfoot
believed that the grammar of the Hebrew text in 2
Kings 5:18 actually demonstrates Namaan was asking
forgiveness for an event that took place in the past.
I haven't found an English version that supports
Lightfoot's assertion. I looked it up in my large
Hebrew-Greek-English Bible and didn't see any evidence
for his claim either. Now I know very little Greek and
let's just say my knowledge of reading Hebrew is zero
but in the English text next to it it also describes a
future event.
Does the LXX describe it as a past or future event?
Is it an accurate translation of this particular
Hebrew passage?
Thanks
- Marc Taylor
