In an article on 1 Cor. 11:2-16, William Martin suggests that the word
γυμνοκέφαλος (GUMNOKEFALOS) would have been a more explicit term to
indicate "unveiled". He offers γυμνόπους (GUMNOPOUS) by way of analogy:

Besides, one would expect Paul to use some more explicit term for
"unveiled", such as γυμνοκέφαλος "bare-headed" (γυμνόπους
    "bare-footed").

Historical Essays Presented to F.F. Bruce/. Exeter: The Paternoster
Press, 1970. pp. 231-241. Quoted as reproduced in PDF format at

I don't find GUMNOKEFALOS attested anywhere, and I'm thinking that
perhaps Martin means merely to conjecture the existence of the word or
something similar, using GUMNOPOUS as a model. Or does someone know of
some occurrence of the word?
