Dear Norman,

>TAS ALUSEIS KAI TAS PEDAS, but I don't have a clear picture in my mind about what sort of chain or fetter is being discussed. Where can I find details of what these Greek words referred to in terms of physical details of the items?

Thge word PEDAS is related to the verb PEDAW, which means to "bind the
feet with fetters." So it seems safe to conclude with mention of two
different kinds of bonds that one would be foot chains and the other
hand chains.
