Rom 7.14
OIDAMEN GAR hOTI hO NOMOS PNEUMATIKOS ESTIN, EGW DE SARKIKOS EIMI PEPRAMENOS hUPO THN hAMARTIAN.
I just noticed that Carl got to this already so it won't be necessary to say too much. We do see the usage of the same verb PIPRASKW in both passages coupled with hAMARIA. In Is 50.1 it is in the dative indicating the reason for the certificate of divorce whereas in Rom 7.14, as Carl has noted, it is the preposition hUPO governing the acc indicating the position of the one sold as being subject to sin rather than as the reason for the sale. It is interesting that the same concept of selling into slavery is used in the two passages, however, the use of hAMARTIA does not seem to correspond in the two passages.

Subject: [B-Greek] Is 50:1 in Septuagint
Dear friends,
Could you please help me with translation of TAIS hAMARTIAIS in Is 50:1? Can it be translated as "to sins"? I am asking because I am trying to figure out if Paul might have in mind the Septuagint version of the text when he was writing Rom 7:14, "We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin." I realize though, that it is not a direct quotation.
Thank you in advance,
Dmitriy Reznik
