Ladies and Gentlemen:
I am curious about the augment in the imperfect for hISTHMI.
I'm familiar with the reduplication to rough breathing
*STA > SISTA > hISTA
and the syllabic augment in e.g EXW in the imperfect which leads to a
contraction:
*SEK > ESEK > EIXON

What happens to hISTHMI? The augment seems to make no difference between the
present and the imperfect...

1S-P-A-I: hISTHMI
1S-I-A-I: hISTHN

Is there an explanation for this?

Thanks [as ususal]
