[B-Greek] "Repent"

Harry,
The point is that we too often associate a sense of remorse for what we have done wrong with the concept of repentance. If it is simply a turning from on thing to another then there need be no sense of remorse. To say that God repented of His intension to destroy Ninevah is then simply to say that he was no longer going to destroy Ninevah due to their repentance.

Hi george!
But "turning to" would mean that you had been turned away, right?
Best Regards,

A very good point. I've frequently wondered what was intended by
such
expressions.
Of course, that is a question of theology so I won't go into that.
Perhaps "turning
to" is a better understanding rather that "turning away from." Of
course,
in "turning away" the thing or attitude referenced are clear since it
refers to
the status quo. In "turning to", however, that to which one is
turning must be
either given or understood.

Good Evening,
Biblically, repent means to turn from the world to God; more then
just turning around or turning to. George, a drunk can turn from
whiskey and turn to a prostitute, so it is important where you're
turning. It's not sorry; I can hang a big one on tonight and wake up
in jail tomorrow with a headache and be sorry, and hang another one
one when I'm released. So, repenting is more than the sorrys of the
world; again, it's making a U turn from worldly to goldly.
Hope that helps you Harry.

Hi Doug!
Well everyone has been trying to figure out why Jesus would need to
be baptised Doug. He certainly didn't need to repent. Right?
Doug.
