I'm not sure that this could be readily checked except where a compound
such as AFISTHMI or ANQISTHMI appears in poetry and the syllable
in question appears in the place of an obligatory long or short. BUT --
if the rule is observed that augment is on the root verb and not on the
prefix, then that difference between long iota in the augmented stem
and short iota in the unaugmented form should stand.
